Purpose

The Open Source Initiative Committee exists to promote awareness, understanding, and use of open source technology.

Goals

1. Save the University money.
2. Become an active contributor to the open source community.
3. Help people make use of open source technology in their personal and professional lives.

Activities

1. Maintain this blog to inform the CSP community of open source projects relevant to the operation of the university.
2. Offer courses and training sessions to teach the use of open source technologies.
3. Research and present open source alternatives to expensive, closed source technology currently burdening the universities budget.
4. Engage in open source projects and developers and testers, to make Concordia a presence in the open source community.
5. Once we are actively involved in the open source community, publicize our involvement through marketing and promotion, identifying Concordia with collaborative and innovative technology development.
